Deckman,
I got my blocks laid out today, tomorrow I am going to lay the support boards, next week the surface boards. So far so good. My question is this: I am building a 22'x 14' rectangular design which calls for 24" on center for the piers. Is it ok if the piers sit at 25" or 26" on center or will this compromise the integrity ? I am going to be using 2x6 surface boards, probably cedar but possibly PT. The surface boards will run PARALLEL to the house hence the 22' x 14' and not the 14' x 22' plans. I used the 22'x 14' plans but the deck will REALLY be about 22.5' x about 13' which is why I am struggling getting these exactly centered on my concrete patio. Long question short, what is the MAX. these piers can be spaced ? Thanks Deckman. I am taking pictures as I go to send in. I am very excited that my blocks are level and I am ready to get the frame done !!!!!!!

You can space them upto 30 inches on center. BUT, you want to make sure that the support line up where the decking will eventually overlap. For instance, when the two 12ft boards will overlap. You don't want to get to the decking and need a 12ft 2 inch board.
