Built a 16x14 floating deck a couple of years ago, and have used it as a platform for a screenhouse. I'd like to build a permanent framework for screens and instead of a permanent roof, use a awning / cloth roof. As with the manufactured screen house, the cloth roof would have the ability to be removed quickly in the event of high winds or for seasonal storage. The cloth roof would also have a wind "relief valve" so to speak, as the manufactured screen house has.

The supporting framework would rest on the deck, not in frost footings.

Has anyone done anything like this?

I haven't heard of anyone doing this. Any roofed structures need to have footings in the ground. We do not recommend using the blocks for any habitable structure.
