cold winters - Ontario 2 Years, 5 Months ago
i want to build a deck 6'X8' about 30" off the ground and i am debating between digging the concrete footings or using dek blocks. i realize this forum is biased but can anyone give feedback on experience in the winter? my concern is that with such a small deck it could really heave in the spring? any feedback please?

thank you

I am contemplating a 32 by 22 ft project in upstate New York, Any shared experience with using the system in the cold climate areas would be greatly appreciated.

If you build the way we recommend then you should not have any problems. A 6'X8' deck is small and there is a chance it will heave a little. There is also a chance that it will not heave at all. If it does heave then it should only heave a small amount and it should heave evenly. When the frost melts in the spring your deck will return to its original position.

The same is true for a 32 x 22 Deck.
