8X12 floor for Wood Building 2 Years, 1 Month ago
I used your piers for a floor for a metal shed (8X10) that was fairly light weight. I also put concrete blocks under your piers to get the floor a little higher off the ground. The concrete blocks were leveled so I did not have to use any 4X4's to get the floor level which makes the structure more ridged as the 2X6's sit directly on the piers in the grooves.

Now I am planning on building a wooden shed on top of an 8 X 12 deck using your piers. If I use 15 blocks per your free plans, will it support the weight of a wooden building? I was not going to "float" the deck, but rather use the outside piers at the perimeter of the 8 X 12 frame to take the brunt of the load of the structure. Also, I am leery of using 4X4's to level the floor. I would rather level each block with the frame so it sits directly on the pier. Again, I am thinking of placing your piers on top of a concrete block to get the building a little higher off the ground. Will this work? Thanks in advance for your reply.

It is not necessary to put the cement blocks under the floating piers. In the long run it is easier and less expensive to add 4x4 posts. I am not sure what you mean when you write "I was not going to float the deck". Do you mean that you would like to have a combination of fixed posts and floating piers? If that is the case then we do not recommend building this way. If a deck is floating it needs to be 100% floating. If its is fixed its needs to be 100% fixed. If you build a shed floor using our plans then you should not have a problem.
