wheelchair ramp 1 Year, 10 Months ago
we are going to build a deck on the back of my grandmothers house this weekend, we need to add a wheelchair ramp, any idea's on the best way to go about this? It will be a 12x12 deck with a prebuilt railing and the ramp will be going off the side about 4' out from the sliding glass door, all of it will be on the prexisting cement pad and the ramp will be on a sidewalk

Wheel Chair Ramps can be difficult to build. Unfortunately they are a little outside of our scope of work but here are a couple of general tips. Keep the ramp as wide as possible. you would like to have a usable area of at least three feet. Do soome research on ADA approved ramps. This will give you an idea of the slope. Finally, check with your building department to see if they have any specific requirements for wheelchair ramps.

Here are some links that might help you.
