Shed floor 3 Years, 5 Months ago
Hi,
I am building a 12x12 shed using 2x6 as joists.Do I have to build all the walls over the outter rows of deck blocks? I would like to build the shed walls right to the outer edge of my shed floor. If not, do I have to build a bigger floor to accomidate a 12x12 shed
Thanks, Danny

The blocks don't need to be directly under the walls. It's a very short overhang.

You can also slide the outside row of blocks over 6-8 inches too.

Building Shed Wall on Edge of Deck Floor 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I guess this is the same question, but I don't understand completely the answer. It seems that you consistently place the Dek- Block about a foot inside the edge of the floor. Is their a reason that needs to be under the floor, or could it be "at" the outside edge. My thought is this. I will be building a building on the flooring, and most of the weight of the building will be obviously wherever I place the wall. I was planning to place the wall of the building on the outside edge, but I don't think that is a good idea if their is no support under that edge. I was not planning on building a larger floor than building. Again, my question is specifically, can the Dek-Block be place along the edge of the flooring, instead of under it. I don't care about the looks of that, more the function

If you think you would feel better about your deck knowing the block is spaced to the edge of the support boards than you should do it. Remember that if you alternate the plans in any way you need to make sure everything is still spaced properly. There should never be more than 5' between Dek-blocks and the support boards should be spaced as shown in the plans.
