  • How to Modify your Deck Plan to Support a Hot Tub or Spa

If you are planning on placing a hot tub on top of your Floating Foundation Deck System, you will need to make a simple modification.

Where the hot tub will sit, add one additional Dek-Block® pier per support board under the hot tub. For example, if the hot tub is 8'x8' and will rest on 4 support boards, add 4 additional Dek-Block® piers, and space them evenly under each support board.

    Deckman's Tip

Hot Tubs/Spas are extremely heavy. When adding water and people, some tubs can weigh up to 14,000. That's why adding additional Dek-Block® piers is imperative. The added support will increase the deck's stability as well as overall safety.

Adding one additional Dek-Block® pier per support board is mandatory. Adding two is recommended. In addition, you may choose to increase the size of the support board from 2x6' to either 2x8' or 2x10'.
