Overview
Hi, I am sending pictures of my new DEK-BLOCK deck. I am proud of it and the fact that two (fifty something) women could do it.
I was not wanting to attach a deck to the house, but I was wanting to have a bigger place for a hot tub and room for the grand-children to play, so when I came across your site, I trashed the estimates I had on a concrete slab and pea gravel. Thanks, this looks so much better than my first plan.
Photo 1: First the tree had to come down.
Photo 2: A 14' x 16' placed over the old patio and beyond.
Photo 3: This was the first deck we built for the hot tub.
Photo 4: Finally the surface boards are down on both of the decks.
Photo 5: This is how we decided to join the two.
Photo 6: The corner post was a challenge at first, but turned out nice, and we started staining using Olympic Maximum from Lowes.
Photo 7: Another view of the corner post. We set all the post on top of the ground, so the lattice skirt could be put up in sections.
Photo 8: I had an existing concrete patio, and a garage door with just 6" step down, so we added a small landing at that level that would also serve as a step up onto the deck.
Photo 9: The larger deck is 6" longer than the smaller, so we put an inside corner post and a outside corner post which made a nice nook for a flower stand.
Photo 10: Lots of room for relaxing.
Photo 11: We counter sunk the screws on the handrails and put the wood buttons which not only looks good but should help keep water out as well.
So, I'm very well pleased with my new deck, thanks to the Floating Foundation Deck System and the help of a very good friend, I got it done.
Thanks, Della
