How to Build a Splash Pool Deck

Step 5: Attaching Deck Surface Boards

For a 3 ft. Splash deck, cut the 12 ft. 2"x6" surface boards into three - 4 ft. sections. Align the first 2"x6" surface board with the edge of a Support Frame (at the connection of two Support Frames). One end of the 2"x6" surface board will tuck under the pool's coping (Some surface boards may require a slight angle to follow the curve of the pool). Leave a minimum of 1/2" spacing from the edge of the pool's wall and the end of the 2"x6" surface board. Allow the opposite end of the 2"x6" surface board to overhang the Support Frame. Continue by placing 2"x6" surface boards until the boards overlap the next Support Frame. When the Support Frame has been covered with 2"x6" surface boards, use a chalk line to mark the center of the two connecting Support Frames. Use this line to cut the overlapping 2"x6" surface boards to fit and align properly.

Next, attach all 2"x6" surface boards with two - 2 1/2" deck screws, at the connection with each 2"x6" support board.

After all 2"x6" surface boards are secured around the pool, use a chalk line to mark the outside edge of the Support Frames and cut the overhanging edges of the 2"x6" surface boards.
