Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you about my deck. My wife wanted a large deck for the front of our house (16'x30'). I wasn't looking forward to digging all the necessary holes for the posts. I have built decks using the traditional methods and it is a lot of work and hard on the back. I wanted to build the deck without attaching it to the house, and I really didn't want to dig all the holes. If you ever had to do this you know what I mean. One day I was browsing the local Lowe's Hardware trying to figure
out how I was going to build this massive deck, when I happened upon your Dek-Blocks along with a brochure describing your product and a web site (which is awesome)! I found the site to be very valuable in my endeavor. This was the perfect solution for me. I have never even heard of the "floating system" and had some reservations. However the forums on the website and all the pictures really convinced me that your system will work.
I built the deck in three 10' sections. It took me several days working an hour or two each day. The supports seemed slightly wobbly at first, but by the time I added the surface boards the deck really became rock solid! I finished it during spring break when I could work several hours a day. I could have finished it in a couple of days had it not been for the snow. (Even in West Texas it can snow)! I wanted to hide the blocks from view so I modified your plans to add a 10" overhang. This gave me room to add framing to attach lattice to the bottom half. I am very pleased with the outcome and have had many compliments. Here in West Texas as you are probably aware, the wind can really blow. This could be a real problem for my deck. This concern was laid to rest when we were blasted with 50 mph winds. The deck held up great, it did not budge!!!
Thanks for such a great product.....
